Chicano and Native Tejano, Ricardo G. Lerma arrived in Austin in 2002 from Victoria, Texas, pursuing his passions for acting and media. With a foundation in theater and nearly four years as a radio personality in Victoria and Corpus Christi, Austin’s booming film and television scene was the natural next step.
Not content to simply “hurry up and wait” for auditions, Ricardo immersed himself in photography; capturing set stills, headshots, and behind-the-scenes moments that quickly connected him with creative community in Central Texas. These relationships eventually led him to co-found and manage a Creative Business Development Agency and Production Company, expanding his impact in both the arts and entrepreneurship.
In parallel, Ricardo launched an unexpected but successful corporate career in banking. Starting as a Teller in 2004 with Bank One during its merger with JPMorgan Chase, he advanced rapidly, becoming a Securities Licensed Banker within two years. Over the next two decades, he built a career spanning small business banking, consumer and commercial banking, private client banking, and now wealth management with VeraBank.
This rare blend of corporate expertise and creative drive, rooted in his Rasquache Chicano upbringing, fuels Ricardo’s passion for community and connection. Whether on set, in the boardroom, or across the table with clients and collaborators, he is a dedicated connector of people and curator of opportunities.
